چکیده

Introduction: Schwannomas are benign tumors arising from the cells responsible for producing the myelin sheath surrounding peripheral nerve cells. Presentation of case: A patient presented with intermittent bloody stools and diarrhea. Following a work-up, including colonoscopy, computed tomography (CT) scan, and endorectal ultrasound and biopsy, he was found to have a clinical T3N1 rectal adenocarcinoma. The CT scan also showed an incidental mass in the right seminal vesicle that on biopsy was consistent with a benign stromal nodule. After neoadjuvant chemoradiation, a low anterior resection (LAR) and concomitant resection of the right seminal vesicle was performed. Pathologic evaluation of the right seminal vesicle revealed a benign schwannoma. Discussion: This unusual case of a solitary schwannoma of the seminal vesicle in a patient with a locally advanced rectal adenocarcinoma illustrates the difficulty in diagnosing these rare lesions because of their generally asymptomatic nature.

Seminal vesicle schwannoma presenting as rectal pain: successful robotic-assisted excision

Schwannomas, not uncommon in the head and neck, rarely occur in the pelvis. Here we describe a seminal vesicle schwannoma, the first of its kind successfully excised via robotic surgery. An otherwise well 62 year-old male presented with a complaint of rectal pain. Colonoscopy identified a mass effect on the rectum, suggesting an external lesion. A computed tomography scan revealed a right semin...

Long-term survival of a patient with metachronous rectal metastasis from primary cecal cancer who underwent repetitive resection and chemotherapy: a case report

There are few reported cases of colorectal metastasis from cancers of other organs, particularly other segments of the colon. Here we describe the long-term survival of a 68-year-old male patient with metachronous rectal metastasis from cecal cancer who underwent repetitive resection and chemotherapy. The patient underwent ileocecal resection and hepatectomy for cecal cancer with liver metastas...

I-2: Ejaculatory Duct Obstruction

Ejaculatory duct obstruction (EDO) underlies 1-5% of male infertility, although the diagnosis of EDO can be complex, treatment is well established and can be very effective. Part of reason that this condition probably is underdiagnosed, is because of its rarity, subtle presentation and the concomitantly low index of suspicion held by physicians. The causes of EDO are divided into congenital and...

The Effect of Retinoic Acid on Seminal Vesicle Epithelial Cell

Purpose: The seminal vesicles are androgen dependent exocrine glands producing protein-rich secretion. The retinoic acid has been implicated as a signaling molecule for the seminal vesicle development. In the present study, the effect of retinoic acid on seminal vesicle epithelial cell of neonatal mouse was investigated. Materials and Methods: Newborn male N-MRI mice were injected intraperiton...

The Protective Effect of Melatonin on Sperm Parameters, Epididymis and Seminal Vesicle Morphology in Adult Mouse Treated with Busulfan

Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate the protective effect of melatonin on sperm parameters, epididymis and seminal vesicle morphology in adult mouse under chemotherapy. Materials and Methods: Male adult NMRI mice were divided into four groups. The control group received a single dose of DMSO, Group 2 received a single dose of busulfan 20mg/kg. Group 3 was administered melatonin 10...
